| Biochem/physiol Actions | Polyene antifungal antibiotic from Streptomyces. Affinity for sterols, primarily ergosterols, of fungal cell membranes. Forms channels in the membranes, causing small molecules to leak out. Antimicrobial spectrum: fungi and yeast. |
